iPhone XS Max Ranked # 4 in DxOMark Image Labs Selfie Test

O DxOMark Image Labs, responsible for one of the most respected camera tests on the Internet, had to date an important shortcoming in its method: the lab was testing only the rear cameras of smartphones, ignoring a very important and increasingly used element in camera devices ( s of selfie. Now, no more.

In a post published today, DxOMark announced that, from now on, it will take into account the performance of front cameras on smartphone scores, detailing its testing methodology: there are over 1,500 photos and 2 hours of video analyzed in over 45 scenarios to determine the qualities and defects of each lens, each sensor and each smartphone.

The best part was that these tests were already being done quietly on some of the labs tested in recent months by the lab. With this, it was already possible to build a ranking with the best front cameras of 12 smartphones recently released.

The test champions were the Pixel 3 it's the Galaxy Note9, both with a 92 point DxOMark. Regarding the Google device, DxO praised the camera's focus ability, the texture of the images and the noise reduction in low light situations; Samsung's device, in turn, received praise for the exposure and color of the pictures taken, as well as the naturalness and cleanliness of the images. Overall, Pixel 3 was the test's biggest champion in terms of image, while Note9 was crowned with the video.

The third place in the test was the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, with its double sliding front camera that has won accolades for the effect bokeh and by the captured video, but was also criticized for the fixed focus secondary camera.

Fourth, finally, we have a Ma device: the iPhone XS Max earned 82 points in DxOMark Selfie, 81 in the photo test and 82 in the video test. According to the lab, the smartphone produces some of the best results (both in image and video) of the group in bright light situations, but has deeper difficulties than most in darker scenarios.

The ranking also includes other old acquaintances, such as the Huawei, O Galaxy S9 Plus, O Galaxy S8 and, tenth, the iPhone X, with 71 points.

And, do you agree with the results?
