iPhone without Lightning connector could arrive in 2021

Want more rumors about the infamous 2020 iPhones and beyond? For fear nothing: our old friend, Ming Chi Kuo, arrived with his latest predictions as ever, based on solid sources from the analyst in Ma's supply chain.

Let's take a look at them?

In 2020

According Kuo, Apple launch five iPhones in 2020! In the first half we will have the introduction of “IPhone SE 2”; According to the analyst (and several other vehicles), the handset will have a 4.7 inch LCD screen, single camera at the rear and a format very similar to the iPhone 8, with updated internal components including a A13 chip and 3GB RAM. There won't be 5G, however.

In the second half, yes as we will always have the main lines updated. Corroborating recent speculation, Kuo said Ma launched four handsets, all with OLED screens one of 5.4 inchestwo of 6.1 inches and one of 6.7 inches. Apparently two of them will be the cheapest line (similar to the iPhone 11 today, but in two sizes), with two cameras rear, and two from the more expensive line (successors of the iPhones 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max), with three lenses in the back.

All of them will count on 5G, but the specific radios (with or without mmWave) will depend on the country. The two most expensive models will also have the already speculated 3D ToF capture system (Time-of-Flight), who can easily make internal mappings and extend ARKit's augmented reality experiences.

Kuo also reaffirmed that the four handsets will have a design reminiscent of the iPhone 4 ie we will have a straight edge return, to the detriment of the more rounded designs of recent years. Let's see what the result of all this is.

Already in 2021

Forecasts involving iPhones for 2020 and 2021

The first of Kuo's predictions for 2021 is the introduction of “IPhone SE 2 Plus”, which, according to the analyst, have a screen design without borders and no start button. Interestingly, we will not have Face ID, however instead the Touch ID be embedded in the side button, he said. Kuo did not specify whether the device had an LCD or OLED screen, but stated that the panel had 5.5 or 6.1 inches.

Finally, we have the most forwardx of all: according to Kuo, Apple remove lightning door of the most expensive iPhones of 2021, to be presented in the second half. This will offer consumers a “completely wireless experience”, which means that the only way to recharge these handsets is by Qi bases.

There is no more information regarding this rumor, but it certainly raises a number of questions: does Apple include a wireless charger in the box of each iPhone? How to stay the Carplay in so many cars or entertainment systems? And the whole giant accessory ecosystem? Will we have a charging system wireless fast enough in 2021 to replace cable solutions?

These are all very pertinent questions, and that Apple will have to study thoroughly over the next few years. What do you guys think?
