iPhone turns 10 today; for Tim Cook, the best is yet to come!

In January 9, 2007, the iconic Steve Jobs took the stage for another keynote, certain that the product he would present there would change the story not only at Apple, but around the world.

At that time, all were fans of the classic iPod (the one with the Click Wheel), mobile phones were already part of most people's daily lives and the internet was already entering many homes around the world. More revolutionary than these three elements, only if there was a device that brought them all together; thus, the iPhone: an iPod widescreen with touch controls, a revolutionary cell phone and an innovative internet communication device ”.

There was a big technological revolution when introducing the iPhone to the world. However, before the success we came to know, Apple worked hard for two years on a secret project codenamed Purple (Project Purple), which sought to create a cell phone that would play music and be sensitive to touch. Discarding the use of a stylus and bringing to the public the multi-touch, Jobs presented the reinvention of the cell phone.

Already passed ten years since this great presentation and Apple (under the management of Tim Cook, as Jobs didn’t care much about it) wouldn’t let the date go by. Quickly recalling the presentation of its co-founder, the company points out the major changes that the device brought, listing the innovations of its latest releases in hardware (iPhone 7) and software (iOS 10).

Over the past ten years, the iPhone has enriched the lives of people around the world with more than 1 billion units sold. It quickly became a revolutionary platform for integrating hardware, software and services and inspired new products, including the iPad and Apple Watch, in addition to millions of applications that have become essential to people's daily lives.

Of course, Cook would not fail to remember the influence of the device on everyone's life. Even though the big revolution was made years ago, the Apple CEO says there are still better things to come.

The iPhone is an essential part of our customers' lives and today, more than ever, it redefines the way we communicate, entertain, work and live. The iPhone set the standard for mobile computing in its first decade and we're just getting started. The best is yet to come.

The pride of working on such a special device continues to appear in the speech of executives and employees, who insist on remembering the great potential that is within a "small machine".

The iPhone how we make voice calls and FaceTime, how we shoot and share Live Photos and 4K videos, as we listen to music via streaming, we use social media, play games, get directions and find new places, how we pay for things, surf the web, interact by email, manage our contacts and calendars, listen to podcasts, watch TV, movies and sports, and manage our physical and health condition. The iPhone has become all of those things and more. And I believe that we're just getting started.

All the technologies mentioned by Schiller are already part of our lives, so we may not realize the great progress that has already taken place. So, let's take a trip to 2007 and see what was a big revolution at that time. With the help of an internet file, Harry McCracken invites us to visit the Apple website when the first iPhone was launched.

There is no exaggeration in saying that the iPhone was a revolution it affected not only the world technologically, but also culturally. Just look at the hands of anyone who has a smartphone today; even if they don't even realize the influence of the iPhone, it is there.

All generations of iPhone
