“IPhone 12” chip may be the first to exceed 3GHz

In the novelty that, every year, the performance of iPhones (how much processing speed) is improving after all, the technology of chipsets Apple's improved every generation. Therefore, it is natural that the "IPhone 12" has an even faster processor than the current models.

In parallel, it was a matter of time until the first (supposed) speed tests attributed to the future chip "A14" emerged on the web and these possible improvements deserve to be highlighted.

Among the information released by the Research Snipers, “A14” is likely to be the first mobile processor with ARM architecture to officially exceed 3GHz the iPad Pro, for example, equipped with the A12X chip that achieves a clock 2.5GHz, while the A13 Bionic of the iPhones 11 and 11 Pro reaches 2.65GHz.

Supposed A14 chip score

Running at that frequency, of course, the (supposed) scores of the new chip should also be higher. According to the results of a test carried out on Geekbench 5 (beta), the probable “A14” chip has achieved 1,658 test points single-core and 4,612 points in multi-core increases of 25% and 33%, respectively, compared to the A13 Bionic.

With this score, the probable chip of the “iPhone 12” also surpasses those of Ma's competitors, such as the chipset Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 and flagships from Samsung and Google, as you can see in the chart above.

As we reported, the “A14” should be the first Apple chip to be manufactured in a 5 nanometer process. Based on the information above, the future processor of iPhones can also be comparable to that of MacBooks, reaching up to 1,800 test points single-core.

If the production problems related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in China have already been resolved, the “A14” is likely to go into production in the next month.
