iPad Pro could win 5G only in 2021

While the iPhone rumor machine is in full swing, the iPad Pro It is much more orderly in its path, which is not surprising, as the tablet market is less heated than the smartphone market. This does not mean, of course, that they are quiet in their corners.

Our old friend, the analyst Ming Chi Kuo, today sent a note to investors (via UDN) sharing some predictions about future iPad Pro models. According to Kuo, tablets will get a minor update in late 2019 or early 2020, keeping the current screen sizes and most features, but with one new feature: cards flexible logic made of liquid crystal polymer (LCP).

Contrary to what some minds might concatenate, however, these flexible boards would not be indicative of a future folding iPad Pro (or at least what is expected). Instead, novelty would be a way to start setting the stage for the introduction of technology 5G on tablets that would happen not in this next version (which, remembering, could only come in 2020), but only in 2021.

The switch to LCP cards would make it possible to include 5G on iPads because, being flexible, Apple could connect more components to them in designs that weren't limited by the rigidity of current cards. The 2019 Pro iPads would be a kind of “test” for this material, and when Ma was finally mastering its use, it would transition to 5G on its tablets.

Kuo did not comment that other possible changes would be introduced in future iPads, be the 2019 models as future versions with 5G. For now, we are left with only this preliminary information that is already, and between us, enough to cause some curiosity about the future, isn't it?
