Invest in Linux: 5 IBM Tips to Leverage Cloud Platforms

Tom Rosamilia, president of IBM Systems, launched a new challenge for the company's partners at the Partner World Leadership Conference: "Do you want to be revolutionary or revolutionized?"

IBM asks partners to use Linux

Although not the same powerful company of the 1970s, IBM remains one of the largest in the world. At the Orlando conference the president of IBM Systems reported that we are going through a critical transformation phase and many companies will get in the way.

IBM itself had mixed business results, while Mainframes and Power Systems grew, the cloud storage sector declined by 11%. Given this, Rosamilia coined 5 items that he believes are the main factors and deserve investments to leverage companies in the sector:

– "Beat the competition with software-defined storage";

– "Change hard drives for Flash storage";

– "Engage customers with new Linux-based mainframes (LinuxOne) ";

– "Boost x86 alternatives with Open Power";

– "Expand opportunities for cognitive businesses through the open source ecosystem."

The PartnerWorld Leadership Conference brought together 1400 partners from over 80 countries and ends today in Orlando, Florida. Next month IBM goes back on the road with InterConnect in Las Vegas and returns to Nevada in September for Edge2016, the conference dedicated to hardware infrastructures.
