International Women's Day is a traditional Google celebration date: the search engine has been making doodles to honor the cause for years. This year's animation was done exclusively by women and brings many references and symbolism. According to Google, the 2020 video seeks to tell the story of International Women's Day by showing achievements from different generations. "The central black and white layer of the mandala reflects women around the world during the late 1800s to 1930s, amid labor movements. The second layer shows women from the 1950s to 1980s, a remarkable era in the wake of pressures for gender equality and rapid changes in the status quo. Finally, the outer layer symbolizes women from the 1990s to the present day, in the context of the progress of more than 100 years of women's rights movements, " company.
