The app is available free of charge for Android and iPhone phones (iOS), and allows the creation of a virtual ISIC card, which is available on the spot and already allows the use of the benefits offered by the organization. The application also allows you to search for discounts in each country and by category, and presents a map to discover the location of stores that offer promotional prices.
6. What is the difference between ISIC card and Student ID?
The Student ID was a national identification proposal developed last year, aimed at students in basic education (elementary and high school) and higher education. The government's proposal was to issue the national ID virtually through a free application, preventing student entities, such as UNE and Ubes, from obtaining funds through the printing of their cards.
The Student ID would function as a unified card, which guarantees the right of half-price for students in cultural events such as concerts, cinemas and theater. However, the provisional measure lost its validity in February, since the time limit for voting in Congress to transform the MP into law was issued, preventing new requests for the issuance of the national ID. Therefore, the student's national document is accepted by those who have already issued the card through the app, but it is no longer available for new users.
In addition, the Student ID would have national and international validity as in the case of ISIC and, in addition to half-price at cultural and sports events, it also brings a series of benefits and discounts on products.
