Intel makes its new Haswell processors official and announces new generation of Thunderbolt technology

Yesterday Intel launched the fourth generation of processors in the Core family (codenamed “Haswell”). We already talked about him a lot here , but, to refresh the memory, it is worth recalling its main news.

Intel

The new processors are the first system-on-a-chip (system-on-a-chip) for PCs, allowing for a 2-in-1 design. They improve notebook battery performance by up to 50%, the biggest gain of its kind in Intel's history, according to the company. In addition, the new graphics (Intel Iris) that come with the processors perform twice as well as the old ones (Intel HD 4000).

The next Macs, who knows, some will arrive next week, for sure they will be equipped with this new family.

The other novelty presented by Intel was the second generation of Thunderbolt. Officially called Thunderbolt 2, the technology supports up to 20Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth, double the current generation. The new version also supports DisplayPort 1.2 and streams of 4K video (38402160 pixels), being still backwards compatible, that is, your current peripheral will work perfectly on the future port.

Also according to Intel, Thunderbolt 2 will go into production in late 2013 to reach the market in early 2014.
