Intel yesterday announced a new line of SATA solid state drives that achieve a transfer rate of up to 6Gbps, the Intel SSD 510 Series.
The drives take advantage of Intel's new SATA 3.0 interface capabilities, such as those found on the newly released MacBooks Pro (nothing like Thunderbolt's 10Gbps, however).
Read and write speeds reach 500MB and 315MB per second, respectively.
There are two models available initially: a 120GB, for $ 284, and another 250GB, for $ 584.
Prices are for bulk purchases by OEMs, in batches of 1,000 units all with a three-year warranty.
