Intel launches first 10th generation Ice Lake chips

Last May, we commented on some details of Intel's new generation of processors, named Ice Lake, which will equate future notebooks. Today, the company has unveiled the next components of the new line, which, in addition to being faster, are the company's first chips to be produced using the 10-nanometer manufacturing method.

The new chips are based on Intel's latest microarchitecture, Sunny Cove, with Turbo boost up to 4.1GHz and a graphic performance of 1.1MHz. These processors are 18% faster in terms of processing per cycle than chips. Sky Lake, launched about four years ago.

As usual, Intel has divided the new chip family into two different series: the Y, for computers that do not have much (smaller) power, and the U, aimed at appliances that use more energy (larger). All in all, there are six new U series chips and five new Y series processors.

The company also launched the 11th generation of its Iris Plus graphics. While improvements vary across CPUs, they all incorporate new-brand technologies such as artificial intelligence-based DL Boost to accelerate AI tasks.

Intel Iris Plus 10th generation graphics processors also include 10bit / RGB channel support for HDR content. As for connectivity, they all come with integrated Thunderbolt 3 with up to 4 ports, and Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Wi-Fi 802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 6 Gig Plus connectivity (which in addition to the 80MHz band also supports the channel). 160MHz).

Intel's new chips are set to begin shipping in this year's upcoming hardware releases if, of course, production is not delayed as it has been in the company's latest releases.
