And just two days after the discovery that its P55 chipset would be causing conflicts with iPhones / iPods touch in data synchronization with Windows 7 (64-bit), Intel announced today that it is already investigating the case, certainly not pleasant for consumers.
Intel investigates iPhone / iPod touch sync issue with its P55 chipset
According to the manufacturer, the problem may be related to the Basic Input / Output System (BIOS) of the P55 chipset, which is basically the set of instructions executed at computer startup. This checks whether the PC components are all present and functional, ensuring the machine's full operation.
Some users claim that the problem was resolved after the downgrade from iTunes 9.0.2 to version 9.0.0, but this is not confirmed, not least because Intel does not yet know if Windows 7 (64-bit) is the only operating system affected by the failure.
Intel's P55 Express chipset works with the Core i7-800 and Core i5-700 processor families. It is a very recent model, available since the middle of the year.
