Intel discovers vulnerability in Bluetooth protocol, already fixed by Apple

THE Intel this week released a new vulnerability in the communication protocol Bluetooth, affecting drivers from some manufacturers, including Apple. Fortunately, however, there is nothing to worry about: Ma has already tried to get ahead and correct the problem in the most recent updates to its systems.

According to the fault documentation, a person (malicious, of course) could break into the communication between two devices if they were within the coverage radius of the protocol (about 30 meters without obstructions), intercepting data traffic and even sending fake device pairing messages. Apparently, such an invasion would be possible due to a deficiency in the validation of the protocol's encryption parameters, which is considered secure.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG, the body that regulates the technology) stated that, in the real world, few users were actually affected by the flaw, after all, the attacker would need to be geographically close to the devices and both would need to be affected by the vulnerability. The number of devices on display is not very large, being made up only of devices from Apple, Broadcom, Intel and Qualcomm.

Fortunately, Ma j fixed the breach in its most recent systems, even before the failure was publicly announced. MacOS High Sierra 10.13.5 or higher, iOS 11.4, tvOS 11.4 and watchOS 4.3.1 are already immune to vulnerability so, for those who wait longer to update their devices, perhaps this is a good time to do so. The rest of the manufacturers said they have already released updates that fix the problem, too.
