New version of Skype released with Microsoft account support
Microsoft has released a new version of Skype for Linux
The new version comes with support for Windows Live Messenger contacts that will be retired next year, so you can sign in with your Windows Live account in addition to your Skype name.
sudo apt-get install libxss1cd / tmpwget -c http://goo.gl/XaHpa -The skype-ubuntu-precise_18.104.22.168-1_i386.debsudo dpkg -i skype-ubuntu * .deb
The above commands are for installing on 32-bit system, in case your system is 64-bit, you need to force the architecture. First install skype normally, then remove it, so it will add some needed libraries, and then finally install the new version forcing the architecture. The final 64-bit version should come out soon.
sudo apt-get install skypesudo apt-get remove skypecd / tmpwget -c http://goo.gl/XaHpa -O skype-ubuntu-need_22.214.171.124-1_i386.debsudo dpkg -i –force-architecture skype-ubuntu * .deb
