Users can also enable Automatic Status (On the Move). With this feature, Threads will learn when you are at home and at work, for example, and automatically update the status accordingly. Instagram has stated that it does not store the exact location of the user, but uses the data to "create context". According to the company, the purpose of the function is to help maintain contact with friends easily and quickly, even when there is no time to send photos or chat.
