Instagram was taken over by a wave of pornographic images in search of the hashtag #sextou in recent days. The tag has taken on a new meaning for foreign users: Sex to U (sex for you, in Portuguese). The term posted on the social network accompanied by pornographic content in photo or video.
The hashtag reportedly started to be used in this new sense by Arab Internet users on Instagram. The hashtag, very popular in Brazil, appeared here to celebrate the arrival of Friday with images of bars and parties, for example. Now, when accessing the search section of the application to search for the hashtag polemics, more than 3 thousand publications of pornographic photos and videos appear. To try to get around the situation, Brazilians started posting #sextou (with a beer emoji at the end of the tag).
Update 1: at 4 pm on Wednesday (5), Instagram had already blocked the hashtag #sextou, making it impossible to find content related to the markup. When clicking on the tag, the following message appears: "Publications with #sextou were limited because the community reported content that may not comply with the Instagram guidelines for communities".
Update 2: Instagram sent dnetc its official position regarding what happened. The social network, in addition to thanking the users for their participation, asks that content like this, which goes against its guidelines, should always be reported. "We thank our community for bringing the issue with the hashtag #exacted our attention. Posts with that hashtag were limited while taking appropriate action. Posting or sharing pornographic content against Instagram policies. We ask everyone to use the tools within the app to report and block content that they believe violates our Community Guidelines so that we can investigate and act quickly. "
