Facebook may be preparing a complete overhaul of Instagram Direct with Messenger technology. According to sources heard by Bloomberg, the change is intended to allow users to talk to each other regardless of the chosen application. It is not yet known whether the social photo network will receive new functions, but the tendency for the visual to be kept more or less intact. Instagram did not respond to the comment request made by Bloomberg this Wednesday (7).

The integration of Facebook platforms was confirmed at a company event held in February, shortly after the The New York Times had advanced the news. In the official announcement, Mark Zuckerberg explained that the measure is aimed primarily at enhancing the security and privacy of services by implementing end-to-end encryption in company chats.

Integration between platforms, as the publication describes, handled internally by Facebook engineers as a very cumbersome technical task. In addition, company officials would also have questions about the effectiveness of the project. Part of the employees would be skeptical of Zuckerberg's strategy for judging applications to be successful, in part because they are standalone products.
The executive, however, would be determined to intensify the junction of apps around the Facebook brand. According to the report by BloombergZuckerberg's integration of services is also viewed as a late compensation for the high investment made in the acquisition of applications. Instagram was bought for $ 1 billion in 2012, and WhatsApp for $ 16 billion two years later.
To ease the transition, the Instagram developer team would already be responding directly to the Messenger team. According to Bloomberg, the gradual loss of independence stemming from Zuckerberg's plans would have been the trigger for the departure of photo and video app founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.
