Instagram began banning sexually-related emojis, such as peach and eggplant icons. The measure is part of a series of new rules incorporated into the terms of use of Facebook, the social networking company, to lessen "implicit or indirect proposals for sexual solicitation" among community members. Zuckerberg's new corporate policy, last adjusted in August, states that "normally sexually and contextually specific character emojis or chains" will not be allowed on the social network. This means that subtitles and comments that combine emojis such as peach, aubergine and water droplets with sexual texts can be removed.

Community standards also advocate using emojis to censor intimate parts of photos and sharing links to external pornographic sites. According to Facebook, the measures are intended to impose limits on content that "facilitates, encourages or coordinates adult sexual encounters." Users who violate the rules in succession may sometimes have their account suspended.
The new behavioral guidelines were criticized by some users, who accused the censorship companies. To the newspaper The independentHowever, a Facebook representative said the platform was not taking action simply against the emojis. "Content will only be removed from Facebook and Instagram if it contains a sexual emoji next to implicit or indirect requests for images containing nudity, sex or sexual partners or sex chats," the company spokesman explained.
