In a note sent to investors associated with Oppenheimer, analyst Yair Reiner included several details that allegedly describe specifications and official forecasts for an Apple tablet, including closed proposals with print publishers to popularize offers within a new eBook platform. Consultations with the company's suppliers also revealed that production will begin in February, at an estimated pace of one million units per month.
Before launching the new product, Reiner believes that Apple will need a relatively large inventory of it five to six weeks of production, being a little more accurate, to supply a fast initial demand. This strategy places its launch between the months of March and April, a period in which Apple usually makes preliminary announcements related to its mobile platform.
Contrary to previous speculation, it is believed that the new tablet will bring a screen based on the same technology used in iPhones / iPods touch, but with 10.1 inches. This information is one of many that makes Reiner's predictions inaccurate, since a few days ago we reported that she could bring a 7-inch screen.
The positioning of the new product in the guaranteed educational market, according to this new series of rumors, which now believe in the increasing relevance of eBooks in this sector, especially if they are cheap. For publishers, there is also a strong hope that its launch will mean new business opportunities, especially if the model adopted is the same as that of the App Store (70% of the profits for the content creator) and there is no mandatory exclusivity for more profits, something that happens with Amazon (Kindle) partners.
On the financial side of Apple, the introduction of a tablet means a considerable increase in profits, estimated between $ 0.50 and $ 0.75 per share. Because of this, Oppenheimer believes in the success of this new onslaught, but has maintained the value of Ma's papers with a stable target price, quoted at $ 235.
