Microsoft is going to have to work hard if it still wants to break into the advanced education market in the territory dominated by Apple, at least in the United States and Europe. Here in Spain, at the Complutense University of Madrid, where I am as a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Political Science, the students who attend the library work proudly on their MacBooks unibody. I confess that I was surprised, even though I know that a first world country and that the buying facilities are always greater than for the inhabitants of the Brazilian lands. But unibody for all?

The secret to this invasion of MacBooks was clearly shown by the university's corridors: it is Universia Espaa, the largest university network in Spanish and Portuguese in the world, present in 15 countries (among them, Brazil). With the support of Apple, the institution created the Apple Education Store Universia.

The idea is to offer discounted products (10%) to students and teachers, in addition to the possibility of financing up to 60 installments with interest from… 0%! This is valid for the entire Apple line, including the iPhone. In addition to the discount, purchases over 116 euros do not pay for shipping, free of charge to record messages on iPods and you can set up your Mac's configuration, just like a conventional Apple Online Store. As if that weren't enough, Universia managed to include in its store the one that we, Brazilians, wanted so much that you promote an iPod touch when you buy Macs.
Well, my friends, now students and professors from Portuguese and Spanish universities that are part of the Universia network can have access to the same conditions offered at North American universities.
And FGV, USP, UnB, and many others, you who are already part of the Universia Brasil chain, how about putting pressure on your partner to extend this store to Brazilians?
