iFixit gets your hands on iPad Pro; come and know all the insides of Apple's newest tablet [atualizado]

The latest new hardware from Apple that iFixit had disassembled was the 21.5 inch iMac with Retina 4K display. Now we have a brand new one on the chart: iPad Pro.

From yesterday to today she made her traditional teardown on the new 12.9 inch iPad and here are the (many!) highlights:

  • The 12.9 inches, with 2732 Ă— 2048 pixels of resolution, means 264 pixels per inch in terms of density. By comparison, Surface Pro 4 with a 12.3-inch screen is 267 pixels per inch.
  • The iPad Pro features a brand new model, the A1584.
  • As always, the front of the iPad is all glued to its case. To open it requires a brief heating and the use of thin spatulas.
  • With the logic board in the center of the iPad Pro, there is also the cable that connects it to the display.
  • Contrary to what we have recently seen on Apple hardware, this time not all the internal battery occupied. In the case of the iPad Pro, Apple has devoted much of its structure to the four speakers. They take up about half of the space occupied by the battery, and apparently Apple thought it was worth compromising on that.
  • The iSight (rear, 8 megapixel) and FaceTime HD (front, 1.2 megapixel) cameras do not differ much from those found on the iPad Air 2.
  • The iPad Pro logic board is protected by an electromagnetic layer (EMI shielding) that needs to be removed before the card itself. It not only protects it from interference, but also hides the cable connectors and secures the logic board to the housing.
  • The four speakers, located in their resonance chambers (these, cut in the carcass itself unibody iPad Pro and foam-filled) are identical. But they change function dynamically, as directed by the iPad; the top two always output the highest (treble) frequencies, while the bottom ones balance the bass sounds. According to Apple, these speakers produce three times more power than those on the iPad Air 2 and are, for the first time on an iPad, strait.
  • Like iPad Air 2, iPad Pro equipped with two antennas using MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output). With this, your 802.11ac Wi-Fi can reach 866Mbps, while the LTE 150Mbps.
  • As if that wasn't enough for Xcode codes or benchmarksiFixit also proved by analyzing the logic board hardware that the iPad Pro really has 4GB RAM.
  • IPad Pro batteries come with tabs that make it easy to peel off stickers, one hand on the wheel for component repair / replacement. There are eight (!) In total, four on each side.
  • We're talking about a battery of 3.77V, with an animal power of 10,307mAh. The source has 38.8Wh40% more than the iPad Air 2.
  • The new iPad Pro Smart Side Connector stuck with glue; iFixit eventually damaged the component to remove it.

In the end, the iPad Pro got a grade 3/10 iFixit “reparability”. The only compliments were really for its battery, since the access as always quite complicated / limited.
