iFixit dissects new polycarbonate MacBook unibody

A few hours after the announcement of the new white MacBooks, the iFixit guys put their hands on one of the white ones and completely dissected it, as they usually do with all the gadgets recently released by Apple.

Dissected polycarbonate MacBook

It is impressive to note the engineering work of the Cupertino firm: everything inside is very clean and tidy, as well as looking quite solid. As you will see, this new portable Mac follows the philosophy unibody, just like MacBooks Pro. Check out some images that I separated for you.

To open the notebook, you need to remove eight screws that secure the cover to the MacBook body. From the images, you can see that removing the screws is apparently simple and does not require more than a Philips wrench.

The bowels also revealed a super powerful battery (according to Apple, its autonomy of up to seven hours) and a replaceable hard disk. Speaking of these two components, they have just switched places compared to the past generation of MacBooks.

The new MacBook uses PC3-8500 RAM, the same type used by all Apple laptops with memory slots and also by the new iMac good for consumers. The machine comes with two 1GB chips and supports up to 4GB, but there are already 4GB PC3-8500 combs on the market, so it is possible (nothing confirmed yet) to reach 8GB of RAM.

The next victim of iFixit will certainly be the iMac. We'll be connected.
