As with the new headphones and the iPhone 5, the iFixit ran to disassemble the new iPod touch and see what that beauty built. But first, a beautiful image comparing it with the new Apple smartphone:
If the iPhone 5 is already too thin, imagine how these new iPod touch are!
The first step involved softening the adhesive so that the tool could enter the structure, opening the device once and for all.
Here are the highlights:
The 5 megapixel camera uses a five-element lens system, with a hybrid infrared filter and /2.4 aperture.
When comparing the screen of the iPod touch with that of the iPhone 5, we see that the iPod is a simpler / cheaper project, even though Apple says that the two have similar functionality.
While the iPhone 5 has a button Home more stout, iFixit was a little disappointed with the iPod touch button, claiming that it is a little fragile.
The specifications of the battery are: 3.8Wh, 3.7V and 1.030mAh (slightly more than the previous version, which had 930mAh).
The Lightning connector, headphone and microphone connector are soldered on the logic board.
More:
- The Cirrus audio codec (338S1077), even from the iPhone 5, was also found.
- In addition to the A5 processor (the same as the iPhone 4S), it has 512MB of RAM from Hynix (H9TKNNN4KDBRCR) and NAND flash memories from Toshiba (THGBX2G8D4JLA01).
- Murata's Wi-Fi module (339S0171).
- Broadcom who supplies the BCM 5976 touchscreen controller.
- The gyroscope was made by STMicroelectronics (AGD32229ESGEK).
- Texas Instruments was already responsible for the SoC (system on a chip) touchscreen (27AZ5R1).
When it comes to repairability, the iPod touch is right behind the iPhone 5, earning a 3/10 score for the difficulty in opening and exchanging components, welded components, fastening stickers, among other things comparatively, the Apple smartphone won a 7 / 10.
