There in mid-2009 (!) There were already indications that Apple would discontinue support for WebObjects on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Server, which actually happened. Ma's web platform has not been updated since 2008, when version 5.4.3 was released.
Because Hugi Thordarson, a Java developer, got in touch with Apple after much insistence on official confirmation: WebObjects is a dead project, which will no longer be updated.
The URL that previously pointed to a page about WebObjects on the Apple website today redirects to one about Xcode, without any further reference to the platform.
Interestingly, even after so many years there is still an active WO community and Apple itself uses parts of the technology in its online store. But it must be only a matter of time before it disappears for good.
And stay with a little nostalgia: Steve Jobs presenting WO at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference, in 1996. Yes, the project was born within NeXT Software, before being acquired by Apple.
