Huawei announced today during an event in China its new Huawei Sound X smart speaker. It was developed in partnership with the French audio company Devialet.
Device manual leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo.
The first information about Huawei's new smart speaker appeared on the Web when its manual leaked on the Weibo social network.
With a cylindrical design reminiscent of the Apple HomePod, dark gray and black finish, the speaker is 203mm high, 165mm in diameter and weighs about 3.5kg. The upper part where the capacitive controls are located and they exhibit a rainbow effect when the speaker is on or when the digital assistant is active.
The Huawei Sound X Smart has two 3.5 inch subwoofers offering a full power of 60W and uses SAM bass enhancement technology. The company claims that it is the first Hi-Res certified smart speaker. The bass can reach an ultra low frequency of 40Hz.
The device has a sound intensity of 93 decibis. Even at high volume, the sounds are not distorted thanks to Devialet's push-push acoustic design. The Push-Push design has two symmetrical woofers installed in a confined space and this cancels noise generated at a high volume using the wave pulse generated by each woofer.
The speaker comes with six 1.5 "midrange speakers evenly distributed next to the subwoofers and they are tuned using Huawei's Histen sound algorithm.
Sound X also has spatial awareness and so it adjusts the sound output depending on where it is placed. There are six microphones positioned around the speaker that can pick up your voice up to 5 meters away. The MediaTek MT8518 1.5GHz quad-core clock processor and anti-interference signal processing technology ensure your commands are captured even in a noisy environment.
Playing music from your smartphone is easy, as the speaker has support for near-field communication (NFC) technology. If your smartphone also supports this technology, just touch the NFC icon of the speaker. The Huawei Sound X can also be paired with another unit for a dual dual speaker mode. All you have to do is double-tap the multifunction button to quickly enter narrow mode.
Because it's a smart speaker, you can use it to control compatible smart home products. Huawei HiLink technology works with products from Midea, Gree, TCL, Haier, Skyworth, Bosch, Siemens and other companies.
The Sound X weighs 3.5 kg, has a diameter of 165 mm and 203 mm of height. It comes equipped with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage capacity. It supports dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and has a power rating of 24V 2.7A.
Price and availabilityA Sound X unit costs 1,999 yuan (about US $ 284) and the two-unit unit costs 3,888 yuan (US $ 553). Pre-sale starts on the 26th in China and will be available from the 5th. The two-unit suite will only be available at the end of December.
