Huawei penalizes employees for tweeting via iPhone

Older users of Twitter remember that for some years the platform has stopped displaying information about which device a tweet was published. This feature (which was already responsible for exposing several gaffes around the world), however, was reimplanted on the social network at the end of last year, even taking Apple “by surprise”.

But first, let's go to another more emblematic case.

More recently, Huawei was targeted by Internet users after publishing, on its official Twitter profile, a New Year message sent by an iPhone. As was to be expected, soon after the company's team realized the “mistake”, the publication was deleted but what falls on the network is never forgotten.

That was quick.

This case could have ended in a joke had it not been for the fight between Huawei and American officials, who arrested the CFO and daughter of the Chinese company's CEO, Meng Wanzhou, earlier last month.

As we mentioned, after the Wanzhou prison and the risk of extradition to the US, Huawei and other companies decided to boycott Apple precisely because it is an American icon company. Amid so many exalted moods, obviously the slide of the tweet New Year's Eve would not be forgiven by the Chinese giant.

THE Reuters he obtained access to a memo by Chen Lifang (vice president of Huawei), who said that the incident “caused damage to the Huawei brand”. Also according to the VP, the tweet was sent by a third party advisor who, at the time of publication, had “VPN problems” (since Twitter blocked in China) with a desktop computer and decided to use an iPhone with a SIM card in roaming to send the New Year's message in time.

Although the mistake was not made directly by a Huawei employee, the company downgraded the position of two employees, one of them director of digital marketing for the company and reduced their salaries by about $ 730, as reported by Bloomberg.

As we said, not even the Cupertino giant was left out of this world of gaffes exposed by Twitter. Last November, the Apple Music account responded to a tweet of singer Ariana Grande on her album “Christmas & Chill” through an Android device.

I never thought I'd see the day 🧐

On the one hand, until the error is not so serious considering that Apple Music itself is also available for Android devices, however, this is still an advertisement for rival companies. In addition, the question remains as to why they did not use an iOS device, even if only to carry out the publication.

Unlike Huawei, Ma did not delete the tweet (which has even been favored by more than 3,000 people and shared more than 33,000 times).

While the cross-advertising cases involving Apple and Huawei can be counted on one hand, Samsung cannot say the same thing. In the most recent case, the South Korean company used a Ma device to publish a message, from its Nigerian account, promoting the Galaxy Note9 display (the flagship launched by the company last year).

I think I can now add “Twitter watcher” to my bio at this point 🤦‍♂️

The result? Not only was the publication deleted, as the @samsungmobileng account was temporarily deleted, being reactivated a few days later.

it's only a matter of time until the next case
