HP Slate may cost a little more than the iPad, but due to extra features

A Spanish website got access to an HP Slate unit for some tests and indicated that, in Europe, it will be marketed for 400 euros (approximately US $ 544) when it is made available for purchase. Such value puts it as a slightly more expensive product than the iPad, which will be sold in the United States starting at $ 499.

However, the test done with the HP tablet revealed some extra functions in addition to those demonstrated by Steve Ballmer in a recent keynote at CES 2010. The tablet is a little thicker than the new Apple product, but this allows it accommodates a USB port and a memory card reader to your design, without the need for adapters.

In terms of performance, HP Slate operates with an Atom processor, manufactured by Intel. Although it is not clear whether the chip can overcome the efficiency of competitors based on ARM architecture (such as the Apple A4), the gadget was able to run Windows 7 “very well”, according to the users who had access to it.
