HP Envy innovates (or copies) with laptops that cause envy

Apparently, Hewlett-Packard wants to cause envy in the competition (or take over yours) with a new line of laptops, which bears the suggestive name of Envy (“envy”, in Portuguese). Accidentally or not, the design of the new products reminds us of old acquaintances. Can you recognize what was the source of inspiration?

The Envy line, which was part of Voodoo's initial portfolio, was reborn at HP without losing its proposal to offer sturdy configurations, which even a MacBook would like to have. How about getting to know them a little more closely?

Constructed with a magnesium body with aluminum, they have the same texture as a MacBook Pro, are a little lighter, but do not offer the same stiffness. a touchpad glass-based, very similar to that used by Apple, is also present.

The 13-inch Envy has a Core 2 Duo processor that comes with an ATI Radeon HD 4330, an SSD disc, but without a DVD player (so far I haven't seen any). At 2 centimeters thick and weighing 1.7 kilos, it is as light as the MacBook Air. HP promises autonomy of up to 7 hours and, with the use of an optional external battery (nice asset that you will see in the video), it is possible extend this time to up to 18 hours of performance.

His bigger brother brings the same processor, but will have as an option a Core i7, space for two SSD drives, an ATI Radeon HD 4830 with 1GB of video memory, and support for up to 16GB of RAM. At 2.5 cm thick and 2.6 kg, it has the same style of construction, but noticeably heavier.

The two models will be on sale from October 18, respectively costing $ 1,700 and $ 1,800, and will come with Microsoft Windows 7 pre-installed. Check out, below, a video produced by Engadget, who could play with the 13 inch model.
