The n-Track app makes life easier for instrumentalists when tuning a viola or guitar using your cell phone. Available for iPhone (iOS) and Android, the free app works as a digital tuning fork that identifies instrument notes through the smartphone's microphone. In addition, the representation on the phone screen displays the name of the note and uses a color scheme that helps the user to increase or decrease the string tension until the ideal tuning is achieved.
Over time, repeating the procedure will help to memorize the tuned sound of each string. In this way, it will be easier to identify when the instrument needs tuning. To test the app's features we used an iPhone 7 updated with the iOS 11 system.
Check out, in the following tutorial, how to use the n-Track app to learn how to tune a guitar or guitar with the help of your cell phone.

Touch the indication of the string to be tuned initially so that the virtual button is selected. That done, bring the microphone to the cell phone on your guitar or guitar and play the corresponding string. Look at the display at the bottom of the screen and make sure the note name appears and the white ball is the only light on. To achieve this result, decrease or increase the tension of the string using the instrument studs.
