How to use Waze to find out where gasoline is cheaper in your area

THE Waze is probably the most popular navigation app in Brazil. In addition to being free, it is able to calculate faster routes considering the intensity of traffic in real time, and this is fantastic.

But it also offers a very useful function that not everyone knows about: a fuel price list at the stations in your region, so you know where to supply at the lowest price.

To access this list, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Waze app on your phone. If you don’t have it installed yet, follow this link.

Step 2: At the top of the application screen, tap the search field where it says “Where“.

Step 3: Touch the fuel pump icon. Alternatively, you can also type the word “gasoline” in the search field.

Step 4: You will see a list of the nearest gas stations and gas prices in each one. If you decide to go on one, just tap on the chosen one and ask to chart the route for you.

The station card also shows the values of the other fuels available.

In the gear icon you can also sort the list by price or by flag.

To show your favorite fuel

The list by default is configured to show regular gasoline prices. But if you use a different type of fuel (ethanol, additive, diesel) you can change the settings so that the list shows what you are using. Follow the steps:

Step 1: touch the magnifying glass symbol at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Touch the gear button at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Scroll down the menu until you find the option Gas stations and prices.

Step 4: Touch the option Preferred fuel.

Step 5: Choose the fuel you want the price to appear in the list of stations.

To change prices

If you arrived at a post and the prices are different from what you saw in the app, you can update them. To do this, open Waze and tap the orange alert balloon.

There you will see the option to update fuel prices. It only works when you are at the post, there is no use leaving it to change later.
