Do you like Always On Display feature of Galaxy S8 and LG G6? Or the Moto Screen of Motorola devices? How about having this function on your Android? I tested Grace Plus for a few days, and if your device has an AMOLED display, this may be a great alternative for you.
Always On or Ambient Display: What is it?
The Always On feature is a feature that allows your device to always display time, date, battery, weather, and application notifications on the lock screen. Introduced in the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and LG G5, the function makes life easier for users.
Ambient Display has the same function, however, triggered from movement, using as the main trigger the proximity sensor of the smartphone. Today, Motorola prefers to call this function Moto Moto.

Having an AMOLED screen and not using the Always On Display feature is a waste!
This is an especially good feature for those who have AMOLED display devices, as the impact on the battery is minimal. If your smartphone does not have an AMOLED screen, do not worry, you can also enjoy this function, however, the power consumption may increase on smartphones with LCD screen, as all pixels need to be backlit, already in the AMOLED display, only the white pixels must be lit.
Also, keep in mind that apps like these can increase battery consumption not just because of the screen, but because it keeps your device in standby mode.
How does Glance Plus work?
Leveraging your device's proximity sensor, the Glance Plus app lets you check the time, weather, notifications and all kinds of useful information without having to unlock the screen. That is, a mix of Always On with Ambient Display.
After installing the app, go to the settings menu and customize every detail: from the text font to the calendar layout.
You can decide whether to display call notifications and unread messages, to define which applications may or may not send notifications, and so on. Items that can be managed include setting the brightness level and the screen timeout.
You can set Glance Plus usage for specific times as well, such as when the device is charging. This allows you to view the date, time and notifications by sliding your hand over the proximity sensor. Through the Settings menu, you can also decide whether to enable the function whenever you take your smartphone out of your pocket and / or as soon as the display is turned off.
The app offers various customization options and is easy to use. To view notifications while the screen is off, you must first allow Glance Plus to access your notifications.
Glance Plus is a good alternative for those who want to see information and notifications but don't want to activate the device all the time.
