The Instagram message request box receives messages from users who do not follow your profile. In this way, the social network allows you to start or decline conversations with strangers. Accepted messages are automatically sent to the main box or to a box reserved for general matters. Thus, the conversation is highlighted in the message list and issues notifications for new scraps.

In addition to the request box, Instagram Direct organizes recent messages in the "Main" boxes and other subjects, such as chats from business profiles and old conversations in the "General" tab. Next, learn how to view a message request on Instagram. To test the feature, we used an iPhone 7 updated with the iOS 13 system. The tutorial steps, however, also work for Android devices.

Step 1. Open Instagram and tap on the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, tap on the "Request" option, as shown in the image below;

Step 2. The box allows you to use filters to filter messages. To do this, click on the gear cone on the page. Then choose to view "Top requests" and "All messages";

Step 3. Tap on one of the messages to view the content. Press the "Accept" button to send the message to the main box of the direct;

Step 4. Choose whether to send the message to the "Main" or "General" box;

Step 5. To view the message and continue the conversation, access the tab where you sent the chat to and tap on its description.
