ICloud acts as a repository of some data and the channel through which other files pass. For certain categories, it also keeps a backup of the items you delete or update. Here's how to restore data when you're using iCloud sync or iCloud Drive on these services.
ICloud Photos
Delete photos and videos in Photos on any device and you will be prompted to delete the media from all your linked devices account. However, the image or movie is not released immediately. Instead, it is placed in the Recently Deleted album, which is also available on all your linked devices. If you do not use iCloud Photos, the album only appears on the device from which you deleted the image.
A tag overlay on or below each image or video lets you know how many days remain before being permanently deleted. Depending on your region of the world and other factors, Photos may also note that for purposes of data retention disclosure, images will not be permanently deleted for a period of time after being removed from your account.
For Photos on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, or iCloud, select the album Recently Excluded. You can select one or more files and click or tap To recover. The media is now placed back in your main library.
iCloud Drive
ICloud Drive has two locations to restore recently deleted files.
For the first method, log in to your account at icloud. Click on Account Settings and in the option Advanced in the bottom left corner of the screen, click Restore files. It displays a kind of popup dialog box.

For some apps, you navigate to iCloud Drive on icloud and click the link. Recently Excluded in the bottom right corner of the screen. This brings a very similar view to the album. Recently Excluded in photos. You can select and restore items from the.
Contacts and Calendars
In the Advanced section of account settings you can also click Restore contacts or Restore calendars. These options appear as tabs in the same window as Restore Files and Restore Favorites. With contacts and calendars, you can view dated backups. click in To restore right of a listed backup and confirm, and all your contacts or calendars will be replaced with that backup. For calendars, everyone you have shared with or joined must be reshared or re-joined.
Favorites
On the Restore Favorites tab, you can select and restore individual favorites.
