1. Backup your WhatsApp
recommended to be connected to a WiFi network to save data consumption. On your old phone and number, open WhatsApp, tap the three dots at the top right and select "Settings".

3. Configure your new number
Now it's time to start the number transfer. On the "Settings" screen, touch Account> Change number> Next e enter the old and new numbers as indicated on the screen. WhatsApp will send a verification code; insert it. The accounts will be linked.
Note: Sometimes WhatsApp recognizes the code without you having to enter it.
4. Perform a new backup without selecting the cloud service
In this step, it is important to pay attention. Performing a backup with the new number links the data of the old number. However, do not save it to the same location (Google Drive, for example), as you run the risk of overwriting the information and losing track record.
Again, just click on "Settings", on the new screen, tap Conversations> Conversation Backup and select the green "Backup" button after making the necessary adjustments.
5. Restore the data
Activate WiFi and open WhatsApp on your new device. Finally, log in with the new number. The app will give you the option of restoring history.
From there, just wait for the process to finish and enjoy your new smartphone.
