How to lock a phone number on Android

Many users still wonder if there are ways to block calls on Android. Sometimes we don't want telemarketing calls, but sometimes we really want to block a person. The answer is much simpler than it sounds. In this article we show some simple methods to perform this procedure.

Block or add a contact to the block list – Motorola, Sony, Pixel

There is another alternative to block contacts on Android devices. If you want to block a number from your contacts, follow these steps:

  • Go to the call history and look for the number you want to block;
  • Tap on the number and a menu with options will appear;
  • Select "Block Number" or "Block / Report Spam";
  • Again, select "Block".

After the desired number is added to the block list, that contact will not be able to terminate a call to your number. This list can be accessed from the call history itself in the three-point menu at the top. Select "Settings" and look for "Call barring" or "Blocked numbers".

This function does not notify the user of any action performed by the "unwanted contact", unlike the previous procedure.

<h2>Forward calls to voicemail – native app</h2>
<p> It is very easy to route calls from a contact to voicemail in the "Contacts" app on Android from many phones like Motorola, Pixel and Nexus. To do so, follow the step-by-step below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Select the contact you want in the app;</li>
<li>From the three-dot menu next to the star, choose "Forward to voicemail";</li>
<li>In some cases, I need to click on the pencil first to edit the contact, and then select the three points, then choose "Send to voicemail".</li>
</ul>
<p>Following this procedure, all calls from the selected contact will be routed directly to voicemail.</p>
<figure><img alt=

This is the quickest solution, but the mailbox sends a notification every time a call from the selected contact is forwarded to voicemail, and you may have to pay to hear and delete the message, making the insistent icon on the bar disappear. of notifications. In any case, the call will not be viewed by the user.

Block contacts through an app

Rather, a warning: Call blocking apps promise the functionality described above in the Play Store. However, because these apps have access to your contacts and the phone app, they should be used with caution. Developers can use authorizations to call expensive service numbers. They can also use their friends' contact details commercially. It is much better to use one of the methods described above.

Call & SMS Blocker – Calls Blacklist

It has simple interface, not very careful, but it does what it needs to have done. It has blacklist for calls and SMS, block log, white list for phones that should never be blocked and a function to schedule a time to be activated and deactivated (and days of the week also, in the paid version).

Truecaller – Caller ID

The most famous app is also one of the most complete. With a neat interface, it practically takes the place of your system's dialer app. That is, besides making your dialer much more complete, it also has the function of blocking numbers.

It takes blocked numbers more like spam, and with data sent from multiple registered users, it can tell you when a call is about advertising before it even answers. If the number is bothering you too much, there is even the option of searching it on the internet and also activating a feature that already blocks the numbers best known for spam.

Who calls – Whoscall

Whoscall is one of the best known applications to block both calls and SMS messages. Just download the app and start blocking. In Whoscall you can create both a blocked numbers list and a list with numbers that should not be blocked.

For each blocked number you can create a profile with notes and reports, which in the future can help you remember why you blocked this number. The app also lets you know which carrier the call comes from.
