The extensive Language Learning with Netflix (LLN) for Google Chrome is ideal for those who want to learn English while watching Netflix. Once installed, the plugin will display two subtitles at the same time in streaming movies and series, one in the viewer's native language and one in the language they want to learn. The tool also shows the meaning, translation and synonyms of each word. This way you can associate the original audio of the productions with the terms in the new language.

In addition to English, you can view subtitles and translations in several languages, such as Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, among others. Step 1. Open the Language Learning with Netflix page in the Chrome Web Store and click Use in Chrome;

Step 2. Confirm by clicking Add Long;

Step 3. With the extension installed, tap the LLN icon that will be created next to the address bar. Then select Catalog;

Step 4. With the catalog open, enter your native language and the language you want to learn. For this example, we chose English. Below you can see some Netflix titles selected by the service for you to watch;

Step 5. If you want to train the language watching other productions, open Netflix in another tab and select the movie or series you want the extension to work on any catalog video;

Step 6. Note that the screen will be divided into two parts: at the top will be the streaming image, and just below will be the two simultaneous subtitles. By hovering over a subtitle word, you can see its meaning, translation and synonyms;

Step 7. If you want to change language, click on the gear icon to see the settings. Then select the language you want to learn. You can also enable Auto-pause, which pauses the video after each subtitle appears on the screen, so you can see all the words, and the Slow speech segments function, which plays the video at a slower speed, so you can follow without haste;
