Como instalar o utilitário HPLIP 3.19.3 para gerenciar Impressoras e Multifuncionais da HP no Linux

How to install HPLIP 3.19.3 utility to manage HP Printers and All-in-Ones on Linux

Nowadays, many distros already install and manage printers, and one of the most popular brands is HP. By default distros already bring drivers in the Linux kernel. It is also worth noting that HP is part of the Silver members of the Linux Foundation, as we reported in this article.

What many who come to the Linux world do not know is that there is a utility for managing HP printing products called HPLIP.

You don't necessarily have to use it, as the Printers application, which probably tracks your distro and makes use of CUPs, can do the trick for most things, but if you want something else with your company's printers. HPLIP is your choice.

In this new version of the software, support has been added for Fedora 29 (64-bit), Open Suse 15 (64-bit), Manjaro 18.0 (64-bit), RHEL 7.6 (64-bit), Debian 9.7 (64-bit). bit), LinuxMint 19.1 (64-bit) and Ubuntu 18.10 (64-bit). To install it, you have some options.

The first search in your distro's package manager for hplip, in which case the version may vary. For example, Ubuntu 19.04 is still at version 3.19.1 and the new version may not install correctly (during testing for this article).

The second way is to download the .run from the HP website for your distro and install it from the terminal (which is no Endless War).

After downloading the .run, you need to give the proper permissions. Save to any folder you like, but I recommend saving it to someone you have easy access to and modify permissions, such as your home folder or your download folder.

To give the installer permission to run, just do as in the image below. Right click on the file, go to properties and in the permissions tab, check the box that allows execution as a program as indicated.

After that, open a terminal in the folder where is the .run file you download. This can usually be done by right-clicking on a blank space in the folder and selecting the open in a terminal option from the context menu that appears, or something similar.

At the terminal that opens, you must type the following command: run the following command

Just waiting for instructions at the terminal and following them.
