Google tests dark mode on pages in Chrome for Android phones. With the feature enabled, the browser replaces the white background of the pages with a black one, and the text font colors are also adapted to give better reading in this new condition. The function is useful for those who use the application in dark or night environments, as it avoids to impair vision with the intense brightness of the smartphone screen.
The news is only available to users of the Google operating system in the Canary version of the browser. In the following tutorial, learn how to enable and test Chrome's new dark mode on your phone. The procedure was performed on a Moto E5 Plus with Android 8.0 Oreo, but the tips also apply to other phones with later software. Please note that the trial version does not apply to Apple iPhone (iOS) devices.

Step 1. Install Chrome Canary from the dnetc page if necessary. Then open the browser and type "about: flags" (without quotes) in the address bar. Use the search to find the "Android web contents dark mode" experiment and tap "Default" ("Default");

Step 2. Select the "Enabled" option to enable the feature. Then you must restart the application to trigger the feature. Do this immediately by clicking on "Relaunch now" in the bottom right corner of the screen;

Step 3. Back in the browser, try visiting a website with a white background like Google's (google). The page will be displayed with black background and highlighted font text.
