Gmail for mobile has recently been updated and has gained new security options. Now, in addition to changing your account password through the app, you can also configure two-step verification. When enabled, in addition to the username and password, you will need to confirm your identity with the phone. On Android devices, just tap a button to activate. On the iPhone (iOS), an SMS message with a code will be sent to confirm.
Check out the tips below and see how to enable the feature to protect your Google account. The step-by-step was performed on a Moto E4, which runs Android, but the procedure also applies to users of Apple's cell phone.
