WhatsApp now allows administrators to better control the permissions of ordinary members in groups. In recent updates, the messenger has gained the possibility to block the editing of information such as name, photo and description of the group and restrict the sending of messages. The latter, in practice, transforms the chat into a transmission channel similar to what exists in Telegram. The function is useful for groups whose sole purpose is to disseminate information, without chat.

In the following walkthrough, learn how to configure the new group settings via WhatsApp Web, on your computer. You need to have the latest version of the application installed on your phone.

WhatsApp Web: all about the messenger PC version
Step 1. In WhatsApp Web, open the group whose settings you want to edit. Then click on the three-point button located in the upper right corner of the screen and go to "Group data";

Step 2. In the right sidebar, scroll down to find the item "Group Settings" and click on it. It is worth remembering that the option appears only for group administrators;

Step 3. Now, select the configuration you want to change: "Edit Group Data" or "Send messages";

Step 4. Select whether you want to give permission to all members or just administrators and, finally, complete in "Confirm".
