How to deal with corrupted iTunes backups

ITunes is a great utility as it is capable of making backups (copies of all data) from the iPhone, iPad and iPod, allowing us to recover all our data, such as contacts, calendars, photos, messages, in case of need to restore the system (or buy another device) ( Read too: «Learn how to pass data from one iPhone to another“).

However, there are (rare) cases in which this backup, for some reason, becomes corrupted, making it impossible to make new records and giving the user a headache. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps to follow if this happens to you.

If, when trying to backup your device, the message “ITunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup could not be saved on the computer«Or»Backup could not be started because a session could not be started“, This means that files from previous backups on the computer can no longer be accessed, requiring them to be deleted from the Mac or PC.

However, the good news is that you won’t have to worry about them, as you can do everything directly on iTunes itself, without complications. See how:

Step 1: Open the iTunes program on your computer and go to preferences (Menu Edit> Preferences on Windows, or iTunes> Preferences on Mac)

Step 2: Click on the “Devices” tab

Step 3: Select the backup of the device that is having a problem (if you have several, choose the most recent one)

Step 4: Click the “Delete Backup” button

After that, plug your device back into the USB cable and sync normally with iTunes. The error that happened before will probably not happen again and you will be able to normally back up everything that is on your device, so as not to risk losing anything. ?

If the problem persists after that, it may be due to some Windows configuration, such as a firewall or anti-virus program.
