When it comes to researching the components and coming across the motherboard, you will find that there are a few different types. Nowadays, there are three main sizes you will find: the largest known as ATX, the average known as Micro-ATX and the smallest known as Mini-ITX.
As you can imagine, the bigger the card, the more slots and ports it has. This makes it easier to put components, upgrade and get better performance in the long run.
Each has its negative and positive points. The ATX is good for those who want to have more than one video card and more RAM slots, for example. Only that also tends to be the most expensive and does not fit into all types of cabinets currently sold.
The slightly cheaper Micro-ATX usually only supports one video card and fits in most cases easily. This is the type of card most commonly used in standard user PCs, whether for work, study or games.
The tightly packed and limited Mini-ITX. It is really suitable for those with a very low budget and looking for a PC for simple reasons, such as doing schoolwork or surfing the internet.
