A Thunderbolt thread can support up to six connected peripherals per port. And the Mac Pro has six Thunderbolt ports, four more than any other Mac. The Mac Pro also has four USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and two Gigabit Ethernet ports, so you can connect a range of devices to a Mac Pro .

The laboratory of Macworld came with the Mac Pro chaining challenge: how many devices can we connect and use on a single Mac Pro?

The answer? 42! There were 36 drives (19 Thunderbolt, 15 USB and 2 FireWire 800), totaling 100.6TB, in addition to 2 Thunderbolt docks (one from Belkin and the other from CalDigit), an Apple Thunderbolt Display, 2 Apple Cinema Displays and an HP Z Display Z27i !
