Ecosia is an application browser for Android and iPhone (iOS) phones that plants trees while you are on the Internet. The app, which acts as a Google-like search engine, makes money by selling advertising, but part of the amount raised to sponsor tree planting in deforested and burned areas, including in Brazil. According to the German company responsible for the browser, on average, 45 researches are needed to plant a tree in total, more than 65 million seedlings have already been planted.
The app recently went viral on Twitter and Instagram, with many mentions of the burning episodes in the Amazon region, in states like Rondnia and Mato Grosso, for example. The program was the most downloaded from the App Store in the country this Thursday (22), ahead of apps like WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger. The procedure was performed on a Moto G7 Play with Android 9.0 (Pie), but the tips also apply to Apple phone users.

Step 1. Install the Ecosia app on your mobile. When you open the browser for the first time, some project introduction screens will be displayed. Tap "Next" a few times, at the end, click "Start browsing";

Step 2. Use the address field to access websites and perform searches. In the results of your searches, you can check the total number of searches performed. On average, 45 research is needed to plant a tree;

Step 3. Tap on the right button of the address bar to access tab management. From there, you can switch between open sites and open new tabs by tapping "+". To go back to Ecosia's home screen, use the left cone of the address bar;

Step 4. Access the application menu by tapping the button in the upper right corner of the screen. Here you can open new tabs, access your bookmarks and history, downloads, tools, settings and more, similar to Chrome.
