How a MacBook Pro converted to an “Apple-hater”

the sign of the end times, Microsoft! John C. Dvorak, one of the world's most established columnists and a well-known Apple critic for a long time, recently declared that he might buy a MacBook Pro.

John C Dvorak

If I were to buy a new laptop right now, a MacBook Pro which I’d probably buy, ”just his words in his weekly column published by PC Magazine, in which he describes his feelings and impressions regarding his son's purchase of an Apple laptop.

However, those words did not come easily from the columnist's mouth. The day he found out that his son chose Apple cited as bleak, when the Dvorak family's flag would be flown at half-mast. But he agrees that the son, after all, followed his advice well when choosing "solutions" and not "hardware".

The solution found was a program called DEVONthink, which helps organize PDF files into more malevolent blocks of information, and will be instrumental in the development of the book that Dvorak's son is writing. Solution, by the way, that has no Windows-based counterpart.

Although he assumes he has "fallen behind" and that Macs have become genuinely useful, he nevertheless nudges Apple sharply. For him, the experience of going to an Apple Retail Store is very similar to visiting a car store in the 1970s, full of salespeople who just want to screw you. For him, in fact, stores are a real obstacle to sales.

Finally, he comments that a good laptop with a killer solution and a free iPod in the package would make him really buy a Mac. Just for fun, he recalls the famous episode of Simpsons where Springfield's most nutty family visits an Apple Store.
