Little by little, the HomePod commercial "Welcome Home", directed by the Oscar winner Spike Jonze and starring the singer FKA Twigs, has proven to be one of Apple’s most successful advertising pieces in recent years.
First, a video on the production of the short delighted everyone by showing the totally manual methods, with very few doses of computer graphics, used to create those impressive visuals. Then, the commercial started to win bulk prizes here, here, and now again.
Ma was twice awarded at the website's annual advertising award Shots, one of the most respected in the world in the area. Because of the advertising, Apple won the awards for Best Online Commercial of the Year (Over Two Minutes) and Best Use of Music in a Commercial; the piece also earned trophies of Best Director (to Spike Jonze), Edio House of the Year (for the Final Cut agency in Los Angeles) and Producer of the Year (for MJZ, also from LA).
Finally, the shortened version of "Welcome Home" won the Silver Award (referring to second place) in the category TV Commercial of the Year At 60 Seconds. Here, who got the maximum honor was the commercial “It’s A Tide Ad”, from the brand of cleaning products Tide.
The award jury is comprised of international advertising experts, executives from major agencies, directors and creative professionals from the commercial world. What a beauty, huh, Apple?
