Hitachi launches two new hard drives for use with its line of external drives equipped with G-Technology

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies stepped up today and launched two products to demonstrate at CES 2012 in Las Vegas: the 1TB Travelstar 5K1000 and the 4TB Deskstar 7K4000 are the newest members of its hard drive line for its drive solutions with the so-called G-Technology, designed specifically for Macs.

The 2.5-inch Travelstar model (5,400RPM), more compact, while the 3.5-inch Deskstar (7,200RPM), both with Advanced Format and 6Gbps SATA interface.

Hitachi GST has stated that it will start delivering these new models to OEMs and distributors in the first quarter of 2012; prices were not disclosed.

The line of G-DRIVEs itself remains unchanged, for the time being.
