Last week, she came up with a new line for notebooks; today, Hitachi announced the launch of the Ultrastar C10K600, a high performance, energy efficient hard drive for corporate desktops.
Operating at 10,000RPM, with a 64MB cache, the 6Gb / s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive promises to be super efficient with a 15% faster random access performance and 18% faster sequential access than current competing products. Its average energy consumption is 22% less than normal in the HDD industry.
The Ultrastar C10K600 family of 2.5-inch hard drives will all be available in 300GB, 450GB and 600GB consumer models. Some unnamed OEM manufacturers have already selected the component to equip future lines of desktops.
