On the same day, two giants launching new hard drives: first was Western Digital, with new high-performance and high-performance models for desktops; now Hitachi has announced the Travelstar 7K500, a 2.5-inch hard drive for notebooks.

The HD offers 500GB of capacity with excellent performance (16% higher than the previous model, reaching 1,245Mb / s), at 7,200RPM, with 16MB of cache. Speaking of power consumption, the 7K500 only pulls 0.69W while in standby and 1.8W during read and / or write operations.
The new line will also have models of 120GB, 160GB and 250GB. OEMs have already started receiving the first batches of products this week, but official prices have not been released by Hitachi.
