Believe me: the first time we talked about the HandBrake here in the it was in the long year 2009. At that time, the video utility was in version 0.9.4; now, practically a decade later, it arrived version 1.1.0 with good news.
HandBrake, for those who don't know it, is a utility that allows the conversion of videos (including DVD and Blu-ray) to different formats such as MP4 and MKV, with support for a wide range of codecs (including x264, x265, VP8 / 9 , MPEG-2 and MPEG-4).
The latest update brings, among other things, improvements to the user interface (providing a more logical and easy to follow workflow), new presets for Vimeo and YouTube, new presets for devices like Apple TV (2160p / 4K), Chromecast, Fire TV and Roku, improvements in Apple TV 4K support not to mention traditional general improvements and bug fixes that are always very welcome.
It is an open source project and, therefore, those responsible for the utility make it clear that the only reliable source for downloading the app is its official website. Also, before upgrading to the new version, make sure that there are no pending encodings in the queue. If you are using a version of HandBrake older than 1.0.0, it is good to keep an eye on the custom presets created by you (they may not be compatible with the latest versions of the app).
